'1929 Schoolhouse'

'1929 Schoolhouse'
Gary J. Penta, 2018

The scene in this detailed diorama depicts a group of metal detectorists searching the overgrown front lawn of a small depression era schoolhouse. The boarded up schoolhouse and rusty playground convey the echos of laughter from children playing nearly a century before. The weathered old schoolhouse may be the focal point of the diorama but other carefully created details include a tire swing, nesting eagle, and period correct hairpin fencing. What makes this 1:87 scale diorama so unusual is the illusion of depth created to add realism to a viewers perspective. Housed in a museum quality display case, the dimensions are 14.5" long by 9" wide and 8" high.
