Created by Gary J. Penta in August of 2019 'Blue Cove' is a medium sized box frame diorama. It measures 7" wide by 5" tall by 2" deep. The use of vibrant colors, silhouettes, and contrasting light and shadows makes it a good representation of modern Folk Art. The scene depicts two divers searching an underwater coral reef. An open treasure chest is shown on the sea floor with the two divers swimming towards it. Above water in a boat is a waiting dive guide. Sitting on an overhanging cliff is a small cottage with a lone woman standing in the doorway. The underwater features are soft-white LED illuminated and the cloud, cottage and palm tree are all dramatically backlit. A protective panel of acrylic glass over the front provides an aesthetic look to the diorama.
